The year was 1920 AD. A great soul Mahatma Bhagat Phool Singh(1884-1942), planted a tiny sapling at Khanpur, a small sleepy hamlet about 10 km from Gohana, Distt Sonepat it was called Gurukul Khanpur Kalan with a Kanya Gurukul School after Bhagat phool singh ji was gone 1942 his dutyful and dynamic daughter Bhan Subhasini devi took up his legacy in her delicate but strong hands, Now there is seven institutionsare running

Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Polytechnic Khanpur Kalan. Established in 1984, situated far from 10 Km Gohana and premier women among the three women polytechnic in Haryana and first fully women institution in northren India. It was opened for the upliftment of women section of the society in rural area. Now it has emerged as a leading, pace-setting and growing women education center in the field of technical education. it provides an excellent environment for learning to the students. it gives a beautiful and bewitching look due to its proper landscaping.

Courses:

A. Library and Information Science - 3 years

This diploma starts from April 1984. Library science is considered as the mother of all science and is a fountain of knowledge. It's significance has increased tremendously with the introduction of computerized system in all spheres of Information Technology. Sum of the important subject which are taught to the students are Cataloguing, Classification theory and Practice, computer Programming theory, information storage and retrieval bibliography and documentations and computer application. Diploma holders can join as librarians in schools, ITI's or Assistant librarians in polytechnics, public libraries, departmental libraries, and Library assistants in universities, T.T.T.I.s.

Engineering, Colleges, Degree Colleges and special libraries.

B. Office Management & Computer Applications: - 3 years

This diploma starts from April 1984 In this course, the subject taught to the students are Accoutancy,Economics, Business Statistics, Office Management, Office Organisation, Awareness of Computer, Data Processing, correspondence, Short-hand & typing . the course is being restructured as Diploma in Modern Office Management.the course is job - oriented and has vast potentialities for employment as: (a) Assistant Accountant (b) Receptionist (c) Steno- Typist (d) Assistant in Bussiness Houses/Organisation (e) Banking Services (f) Maintenance of Accounts with the help of computer (g) Instructor in ITI. this diploma has been approved by Haryana Govt. for appointment of Stenographer.

C. Diploma in Pharmacy - 2 years

This diploma starts from April 1989 A career in pharmacy unfolds an unbound vista of opportunities. A professional pharmacist can get job in fields like Retail Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy, Education and Research, Hospital and Consultancy to a Pharmaceutical Industry. As a retail /communities pharmacist,one supplies surgical instruments and self diagnostic equipment diabetes and blood pressure etc. In Industrial Pharmacy, pharmacist can rise from the position of a supervisor to that of a production manager, product manager and works manager etc. In Hospital Pharmacy, a pharmacist rendered services like (a) providing drug information (b) Selection and purchase

of drugs (c) Distributions of Drugs (d)Preparation of solutions. A pharmacist can take up the job of a Pharmaceutical journalist or work as a technical advisor.

D. Electronics & communication Engg. - 3 years

This diploma starts from April 1984 The course content includes digital electronics, communication engg. Radio and T.V Communication, industrial Electronics, Telephony and Telegraphy, Microwave Engg.,Electronics Manufacturing process, Microprocessors and computers &Electronics instruments. Job opportunities for this course are considerable. Diploma holders can work as a supervisor in consumer electronics, junior engineer/engineering asstt. in all India radio, Doordarshan, Wire-less/Mines communication,Radar & Civil aviation and Defence Services,Service Engineer, Testing Engineer/Supervisor in Electronics Components Manufacturing industries, Junior Scientific Officers in research labs, Technician in Medical Electronics industries and Hospitals. they can also be self employed (a) opening a repair shop for radio and television (b) Manufacturing printed CKT Boards , small IFTs, small transitors, Battery Eliminators,automatic Voltage Stabilizers, Inverters, and parts of calculator.

E. Computer Engg. - 3 years

This diploma starts from 2001. The course is designed to provide the students knowledge of hardware and software engineering with the subjects; Digital electronics ,Digital board testing, Computer Architecture, Computer Networks, Programming in Pascal, Operating System, Data Structure, Microprocessor and Electronic Devices and Circuits. the students undergo theory and practical with the aid of eminent teachers and well equipped labs for respective subject. the institute is having four computer centers with 486,and Pentium based machines plus peripherals. After paning the diploma one can join programming/sales-service side as production/sales/service Engineering in a software or hardware based company, as faculty member in a training center or open her own centre for training/sales/services/developing software etc.

F. Information Technology science: - 3 years

This diploma starts from 2001Keeping in view the management prospect in the market with sufficient knowledge of computer, Technical Education Department introduced the ISM Diploma in the institute, Curriculam covers Maths & Statistics, Function of management, Business of Management, Fundamental of Computer, Data Communication of Networks, DBASE, programming in "C", Management Information System, Entrepreneurship & Project Management. they can be employed as information analyst, assistant programmer, Counselors, Computer Operator etc.

G. MLT - 3 years

This diploma starts from 2001A career in Medical Laboratory Technology unfolds an unbound vista of opportunities. A professional Technician can get job in fields Education and Research, Hospital and can do self Testing lab like blood testing sugar testing, urine testing etc.

Eligibility

Matric for all courses except the Diploma in Pharmacy for which one should be 10+2 (Science)

Twenty well qualified and competent faculty plus forty supporting staff led by Principal Sh. Raj Singh Kadian as internationally known polytechnist, impact instruction and devotion.

Hostel

Presently there is a great rush for a seat in the women hostel. There is 350 girls have been accommodated in the hostel which provides all modern amenities. With 24 hours electricity supply

One Principal residence and 13 staff residences with one guest house have been constructed under world bank assisted Project

Library

The Library is well-classified, catalogued and well-stocked having100 students seating capacity with about 9 thousand volumes. 10 journals/magazines are regularly subscribed to supplement the knowledge of the students.

PWD Scheme

Aided by the Central Govt. Ministry of HRD, the scheme offered several courses to the handicapped persons-5 in each of all no tution fee or any other expense is charged from them, Rather the polytechnic spend Rs. 1700/- per month on boarding lodging clothing books and equipments etc.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CELL:

A Community Development wing was started in May 1993 to impart free training of six month's duration to the unemployed rural youths. The centers are established in the nearby area of Gohana particularly for women in rural areas. About 8 centers have been established for training in the field of Typing, Beauty Culture, Electrician, Designing, Carpentry, Book-Keeping and Accountancy etc.

INDUSTRY INSTITUTE INTERACTION CELL

In order to keep a close liaison with the industry banks insurance corporation/companies and other institute of higher learning, an industry Institute Cell has been set up which headed by the Training & Placement Officer. This cell is performing the following functions :

1. To arrange visits of the students to different industries, corporations, universities and business houses in order to give them bigger exposure.

2. To arrange extension lectures on topics which are related to the courses of study. From

eminent engineers/technocrats and experts from other relevant fields to broaden student's

mental horizon.

3. To arrange campus interviews for employment to the students.

4. To arrange staff development training.

5. To arrange industrial training of students.

6. To arrange Apprenticeship training of the students.

7. To provide consultancy to industries with the aid of faculty of the institute.

Extra Curricular Activities

Utmost significance is attached to the harmonious development of the personalities of the students studying here. For that, great emphasis is laid on games, sports and extra curricular activities like Declamation contest, Cultural shows and short educational tours. Besides various clubs like Horticulture club, Music, Dance and Dramatic clubs have been set up.
